Conducting Rasch Analysis in the Human Sciences

Workshop held by Dr. William Boone (University of Miami)

18.01.2019 – 19.01.2019

On behalf of the Munich Center of the Learning Sciences (MCLS) and the Institute for Biology Education (Prof. Birgit Neuhaus) we are very happy to announce the following event:

boonewj_edp-130x170Workshop Conducting Rasch Analysis in the Human Sciences
by Dr. William Boone (University of Miami)

18.01.2019-19.01.2019
9:00-17:00

Institute for Biology Education
Winzererstraße 45, Room 209

This 2 day workshop will present the basics of Rasch theory and the basics of the use of Rasch software to evaluate right/wrong tests, and rating scale attitudinal surveys. Those attending the workshop will learn 1) why Rasch must be used to prepare data for statistical analysis, 2) how to use Rasch theory to design tests and surveys, 3) how to conduct a Rasch analysis of a test using Winsteps Rasch software, 4) how to conduct a Rasch analysis of a survey using Winsteps Rasch software, 5) how to create and interpret “Wright Maps”, and how to organize Rasch “measures” for parametric statistical tests. Furthermore, Mr Boone will 6) talk of evaluating partial credit data, 7) show by hand Rasch calculations, and 8) demonstrate techniques by which one can evaluate dimensionality.

Short Bio

Dr. Boone has conducted research using Rasch techniques for 25 years and is the author (Boone, Staver, Yale) of the book Rasch Analysis in the Human Sciences published by Springer. In 2012 Dr. Boone was named a Fulbright Scholar. Boone is the author of over 100 publications and reports.
