REASON Spring School a success!

20.03.2015 at 00:00

The International Spring School on ‘Measuring Scientific Reasoning and Argumentation’ took place from March 5-7, 2015. Overall, 46 students participated, coming from three continents and from 18 different countries, and studying various directions in the field of the Learning Sciences. The scientific program included workshops and keynote talks of outstanding experts in the field, providing insights in different aspects of scientific reasoning and argumentation. The keynotes and workshops were held by Prof. Dr. Deanna Kuhn and Toi Sin Arvidsson (Columbia University, USA), Prof. Dr. Michael Nussbaum (University of Nevada, USA), Prof. Dr. Armin Weinberger (Universität des Saarlandes, Germany), Prof. Dr. Carolyn Rosé (Carnegie-Mellon University, USA), Dr. Marco Schmidt (Max-Planck-Institute for Evolutionary Anthropology, Germany), PD Dr. Christof Wecker and Dr. Markus Bolzer (Ludwig-Maximilians-University, Germany).
Between these workshops, students presented their current research projects and used the opportunity to engage in active discussions about their work. Students and experts further had the opportunity to talk about research issues in more informal settings as well - for instance during the conference dinner at the ‘Hofbräuhaus Munich’.
In summary, the 1st REASON Spring School was a big success with a lot of stimulating discussions and deep insights. We are looking forward to the next Spring School!
