ET 3: Emotion, Cognition and Learning

Research on the influence of emotion on cognition and learning represents a new field, which is experiencing a rapid surge of interest. Prior research has shown that test anxiety and positive versus negative mood can profoundly influence cognitive processes, including learning and memory performance. Scientists in this ET focus on the investigation of the origins of emotions related to learning and achievement, their effects on motivation, learning, and memory processes and the effects of achievement emotions on the adoption of achievement goals. The control-value theory of achievement emotions as well as models tailored to explaining the functions of specific emotions are used as theoretical frameworks.
