Toward a New Eclectic Approach: The Internal Cohesion Psychotherapy held by Prof. Dr. Ass. Dr. Fitim Uka, Department of Psychology, University of Prishtina

Abstract:

This invited lecture will provide a short introduction on the new integrative psychotherapy approach: Internal Cohesion Psychotherapy (ICP). The ICP is a recently developed integrative psychotherapy approach that represents a practical and evidence-based approach. The ICP aims to integrate the best practices from different perspectives yet remain unique in conceptualizing the nature of psychopathology and its treatment. The core components of the ICP are four systems (intrapersonal, interpersonal, professional, and spiritual), which represent important relations between individuals and time. Prof. Uka’s presentation will be focused on the core elements of ICP (systems and time), the main steps in the ICP intervention process, and some of the main psychotherapeutic techniques.


Bio

Fitim Uka is a psychologist and psychotherapist from Kosovo. He holds a master’s degree from LMU and a PhD in Psychology from the University of Freiburg in Germany. He did post-doc studies at the University of Illinois in Chicago, USA. Currently, Fitim Uka is a professor of psychology at the University of Prishtina in Kosovo, where he teaches several courses in the field of clinical psychology. Fitim Uka leads the Psychosocial and Medical Research Centre in Kosovo, which aimes to provide a reliable source of research for evidence-based interventions, and he is currently the director of the multidisciplinary clinic “Empatia” in Prishtina, where he applies the Internal Cohesion Psychotherapy.
