Abstract
Advances in AI tools such as Natural Language Processing (NLP) designed into Authoring and Customizing Environments (ACEs) such as the Web-based Inquiry Science Environments (WISE) have shown promise for science learning. Assessments of student progress in integrating their science ideas using NLP have increased in reliability and validity. Determining optimal uses for these scores including how best to use the scores to amplify the impact of the teacher remains an open question. This talk will engage the audience in exploring our investigations of designs for adaptive scaffolds based on NLP based assessments of knowledge integration.
