3rd Interdisciplinary REASON Winter School 2019 - A success!

Evidence-based Communication, Argumentation and Practice

12.03.2019

The 3rd REASON Interdisciplinary Winter School 2019 on Evidence-based Communication, Argumentation and Practice took place in February 2019 and adressed the question how evidence-based argumentation can be advanced across different populations, including children, students, or professionals, such as physicians, teachers, or social workers.

The scientific program included four keynote lectures and four workshops held by experts; paper and poster sessions; as well as two structured lunchtime activities (Open Science Lunch and Roundtable Discussions for Young Researchers). Scholars and experts also had the opportunity to talk about research issues in more informal settings at the Dinner at Wirtshaus Maxvorstadt and the Guided tour at the Alte Pinakotek, which took place on the first and second day of the event respectively.

The REASON team was joined by 20 external doctoral candidates and the winter school brought together around 50 participants in total.

We were very thankful to welcome a number of outstanding external experts: Judy Harackiewicz (University of Wisconsin-Madison), Sibel Erduran (University of Oxford), Stephan Hartmann (MCMP/LMU Munich), Riikka Hofmann (University of Cambridge), Konrad Krainer (Alpen-Adria-Universität Klagenfurt), Douglas Walton (University of Winsor), as well as members of the MCLS network: Stefan Ufer (LMU), Andras Csanadi (REASON alumni), Andreas Hetmanek (TUM), Maximilian Knogler (TUM) and Karsten Stegmann (LMU).

We would like to thank all our Winter School participants for their contribution to the event and are looking forward to welcoming them again soon at the Munich Center of the Learning Sciences and the international doctoral school REASON!
