Background

ASPEKT (Laboratory Network for the Analysis of Social, Behavioral, Cognitive, Emotional and Physiological Processes) aims to make use of the methodological infrastructure in the field of videography at the Department of Psychology at Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München for behavioral psychological research in accordance with the potential of technological innovations in modern video and storage technology and to ensure excellent work in accordance with the high scientific standards in the field of empirical behavioral research. Technical and scientific progress has led to new research methods and fields. The technological prerequisites for their development are to be expanded to a national top level and thus the connection to top-class international research is to be ensured in the long term.

This project was developed in co-sponsorship of the Department of Psychology through cooperation within the framework of the Munich Center of the Learning Sciences (MCLS), in which the participating teaching and research units already work together due to the overlapping of their content orientations. Specifically, applications were made for a shared server infrastructure and four video lab configurations, each designed for the analysis of specific processes, but which together greatly expand the analysis possibilities. The applications for large-scale equipment according to Article 91b GG (INST 86_1900-1 FUGG to INST 86_1903-1 FUGG) were approved by the German Research Foundation on November 20, 2018. The technical installation of the laboratory units was completed by 31.01.2021.
